Foreign Cargo of Burnaby Street, Hamilton has introduced Ovopur to Bermuda.

Ovopur is an eco-design water filtration system that provides superior quality water at a fraction of the cost of bottled water and other water filtration systems. It requires no electricity to run and is designed with natural and sustainable materials.

Environmentally friendly to the core, the Ovopur unit does not consume any electricity, instead using gravity to filter and revitalise tap water. Its unique multilayer filter cartridge, Aquacristal, contains tried and tested first class filtering materials that have been proven to remove chemicals and organic pollutants from drinking water.

The company that created Ovopur, spent years researching and studying nature to understand and reproduce the age-old mechanisms that enable water to be constantly filtered and revitalised as part of the earth's ecosystem.

The innovative company developed the Aquacristal cartridge to reproduce the basic filtration process of the natural water cycle. The four steps in the filtration process include KDF 55, activated carbon, microporous bioceramics and quartz crystal.

The KDF 55 is a powder that is made up of copper alloy and ultra pure zinc. KDF 55 neutralises up to 99 percent of chlorine, lead, mercury, nickel, chromium and other heavy metals that may be found in drinking water. It also fights the build-up of bacteria, algae, fungi and scale. It is 100 percent recyclable and it contains no chemical additives and meets the standards of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the Food and Drug Administration.

The second component of this filtration system is Activated Carbon which has superior absorption properties and traps pollutants that may be found in water such as mineral oils, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), aromatic polyhydrocarbons, chlorine, chloroform and pharmological residues.

Microporous bioceramics is the third component and serves by absorbing chemical and organic residues, but also works to soften and revitalise water by reducing the size of its molecules.

Quartz crystal is the final component of the Aquacristal filtration system and it is used to remove any lingering impurities from the water.
